The SodaStream is a remarkable new product that allows you to make your own sodas and flavored carbonated beverages right at home. It’s becoming incredibly popular as more and more people are discovering how easy it is to do and how much money that can be saved. And right around Christmas time, more and more people are giving this awesome home soda maker to friends and family as it makes a great gift idea. And since times are tough, you want to be able to get the best value from a gift and therefore you will want to know where to get the best price on a SodaStream home soda maker and this article can help.

To get the best price SodaStream soda maker you’ll need to know what model you want to buy. The SodaStream comes in four different models that are each a little bit different. The cheapest model, the Fountain Jet, is a terrific base model machine that will make you sodas and seltzers easily, but that’s about it. It’s perfect if you’re just looking to make a liter or two a week and that’s it. The next model is the Genesis and it’s big advantage is that it is redesigned to make loading the bottle much easier. The next model up is the Pure and it has a more rugged stainless steel design that makes it much more durable. This is perfect if you’re looking to make several liters throughout the week. Finally there is the Penguin which has a very unique design that resembles a penguin but more importantly makes loading the glass bottle incredibly easy and trouble free.

When you’ve decided on which model you’ll want to know where to buy SodaStream models and what their prices are. I can tell you right now that your best deal is online as the department store markups are typically 50-80%, even when they are “on sale”.

My six year old niece and I went to the mall last month to buy some plumbing supplies. My small, home-run baking business was doing quite well and I had saved up enough money to buy the shiny chrome shower kit I have been coveting for ages. On the way to the hardware, we passed by a kiosk offering free dippers for a chocolate fountain that they got going. Naturally, my niece dragged me for a closer look (taste). Since she has been so behaved, I went along, not unwillingly at all.

It so happens that that the kiosk was having a great sale on chocolate fountains. The prices were so great that I couldn’t resist buying one. We passed by my favorite baking supply store and picked up a chocolate block. As soon as we got home, my niece clamored to get the fountain going. I obliged and took out the chocolate block, melted it in the double broiler and got the machine going. We had some standby wafer sticks and used that as dippers.

Before long, the wafers were gone. Earlier that morning, I had baked some cupcakes for a wedding party and had quite a few unfrosted ones left. We took the plain cupcakes and let the chocolate flow all over the top. My niece got creative and used the leftover metallic and pearl glitters on top of the chocolate-drenched cupcakes. I had to admit, they looked quite lovely.

The following day, I baked some oatmeal bars and cut them up into bite-sized pieces. Then, I got the chocolate fountain going again, only this time, I didn’t add any shortening to the melted chocolate so that it would harden. Covering the oatmeal bites was incredibly fun and easy. I simply placed each chocolate-covered oatmeal bite on a paper cupcake liner, added some sprinklers and voila, I had created some gorgeous looking goodies. They were a big hit with my book club pot luck.

Next week, the book club will be meeting at my house. I’m planning on using the chocolate fountain for cheese fondue. I was thinking to use some vegetables sticks as dippers: celery, carrots, cucumber. For good measure, I will be adding some garlic toast, and also some sausage slices as well. Someone else has offered to bring some red wine, which will go perfectly with the cheese. As soon as I finish posting this blog I’m going to my kitchen to make some fondue for a trial run with the fountain, just to make sure that using cheese fondue would work well with the fountain mechanisms. My sister, who loves cheese, is already waiting with the Monterey jack and cheddar.
